Netflix picked up the entire 16-person team of software engineers, researchers, and creative specialists, integrating them straight into its internal production pipeline. The software solves practical, expensive problems that happen during real-world filming. If a production crew runs into bad weather, bad lighting, or missing camera shots, editors can use these tools to fix the footage without scheduling expensive reshoots. The software helps teams adjust background elements, fix lighting mistakes, reframe existing camera angles, and perform complex wire removal. A patent application filed by Affleck estimated that using these automated tools could slash overall visual effects budgets by half and reduce physical production schedules by roughly 20 percent.

Affleck has often drawn a clear line between technical craft and true artistic vision. He publicly described software as a skilled craftsman that can learn techniques by watching experts, but emphasized that machines lack human taste.
