Smart Travel Agent: Google AI Mode Now Tracks Flight Deals and Books Hotels

Google added new tools to help people plan and book trips directly inside AI Mode. Users can now track changing flight prices, reserve hotel rooms, and calculate travel reward points or airline miles for upcoming trips through natural conversation.

These updates show that Google wants to turn AI Mode into an active travel assistant. Instead of just pulling basic trip ideas, the software now manages the real work of planning and booking flights.

Travelers can tell AI Mode where and when they want to fly, and the tool pulls top options from more than 300 airlines and travel booking platforms. If a user is ready to buy, they can build an itinerary on the spot. If they want to wait for a better fare, they can ask AI Mode to track flight prices over time. The app then sends an email notification whenever prices rise or drop for the selected route. Flight tracking inside AI Mode is available across more than 180 countries.

Hotel bookings follow a similar chat process. Users tell AI Mode about their destination, trip dates, and personal preferences to receive a tailored list of property choices with reviews. Once a traveler picks a hotel, they click a button to continue booking on Google. This opens integrated partner links for major hotel chains and travel search engines. From there, users choose their room, check cancellation terms, and check out using Google Pay. Google notes that the individual hotel or booking site manages customer support for completed reservations.

The hotel booking tool is rolling out in English for users in the United States. Partners supporting the integration include Booking.com, Choice Hotels, Expedia, Hilton, IHG Hotels, Marriott, Priceline, Trip.com, and Wyndham.

Google also added the ability to calculate flight and hotel costs using loyalty points or frequent flyer miles. Users can ask questions like how many airline miles they need for a specific flight, and AI Mode will calculate the required totals. This points calculation feature is available worldwide.

Turning search interfaces into booking channels simplifies how consumers plan trips. Instead of jumping across multiple browser tabs to compare flight costs, hotel rates, and loyalty programs, users can manage their travel planning in a single chat box.

As travel companies connect their reservation engines directly to automated assistants, booking trips will become faster and more personal. Direct integration saves consumers time while opening new sales channels for partner brands.
